90's song of the week

I hope everyone enjoyed the post of my opinion of music now a days. Well that post inspired me to do a 90's song of the week for a little bit. I'm going to put up a song from my list of great 90's bands. Even though Shout Outs I have none, enjoy this weeks song.

Tag ... You're It!

okay ... taking this idea from a blog I stalk. And no, she doesn't know that I stalk her. She is a really great scrapbooker and I tend to get some really creative ideas from her.

Anyway ....

Here is the deal. This is for everyone who reads my blog and who blogs too. And if you don't blog ... quit just stalking me and create one! :-) I want to stalk you too! Go to your pictures folder and choose the sixth folder and then the sixth picture. Post it and give a brief description of your picture.

Here is mine -

Andrew drinking a beer. What a shock, huh? This picture was taken on our honeymoon in St. Lucia. We had just gotten to the resort and got our bags to our room. We really needed a drink. This was just the beginning. Our week consisted of alot of time in the pool at the swim up bar.

On such a rainy day like today, it makes me wish we were still there. It really is one of the most gorgeous places I have ever been.

Waiting for the new era of "Rock" music !!!!

For some reason I have decided to post on "our" blog.
I have come to a realization recently.
I usually listen to my CD's on my way home from work, but I have had the radio on hoping for something new and fresh. That's when I realized something. We are waiting for this era's explosion of good music. Hopefully history, like always, will repeat itself. During each era there is that time when great music is made. In my opinion we are still waiting for that to happen in the 00's.
Since the 90's there has not been any great bands. Good bands, yes, but nothing great.
My theory is that we will have a big music explosion in the 00's. Something completely different and amazing will arise. Hopefully sooner than later because I'm sick of the crap on the radio.

Here is a list of bands from the 90's , in no particular order, that will make you wish we had the next big thing in music, now:
1. Nirvana
2. Pearl Jam
3. Perry Farrell (Jane's Addiction / Porno for Pyros)
4. Sound Garden
5. Temple of the Dog
6. Stone Temple Pilots
7. Radio Head
8. Rage Against the Machine
9. Alice in Chains
10. Sublime

Now some of these bands are still together going strong. Just remember when they first came out, these bands were like nothing we have ever heard before. A lot of these bands were way ahead of their time.

A Decade

Yes, that's right ... it's been a decade since Andrew and I started dating. And no, I am not starting over because we are married. It's been 10 years! No way am I about to start over.

A little history .... If I could only get some pictures on here ... I need a scanner.

I was 15 and Andrew was 16. We met in Mr. Mitchell's geometry class. In fact, Andrew sat right behind me because we had assigned seats based on our last names. Andrew moved down from New York that year and had the slightest hint of a northern accent, especially with the letter R. Mister was Mistah. He had this thick, dark curly hair and one of those smiles that would make a girl blush. (I can only imagine how cocky he will act after he reads this). Andrew would often play the game of not understanding an assignment and asked for my help. He knew what he was doing but I said yes.

We were both pretty shy when it came to dating. In fact, we needed a matchmaker. Yes, Chris ... that would be you! Andrew and Chris became really good friends through sports and Chris was in my Spanish class. Chris and I weren't the greatest of friends ... in fact, we pretty much did everything we could to irritate one another. Especially him. If you know Chris, he has this way with words and for some reason you can never have the last word. He's a word ninja. Anyway, Chris convinced Andrew to call and ask me out to the movies. I said yes.

It was a double date ... Andrew's brother Shaun had to drive us because Andrew didn't have his license. What movie you ask? Varsity Blues ... now that dates you back to 1999, huh? Shaun even had to buy our movie tickets because it was rated R. We were youngins' :-)

After the movie, Andrew walked me to the door and asked me to be his girlfriend. I said yes.

Well, as you all know ... it's high school, boyfriends and girlfriends don't last forever. I broke up with him. Stupid me. I regretted it the day I did it. I did my best to apologize. I asked him to the Valentine's dance. He said yes.

I got all dressed up with two of my girlfriends and we made it a big group 'date'. The dance was held in the school cafeteria (this dance was offered to freshmen and sophomores because we weren't allowed to go to prom). Well, it was great ... I was hoping all night that Andrew would ask me to be his girlfriend again. He didn't.

But he did the next day. I said yes.

And it lasted until July 3, 2006 when he asked me to marry him. I said yes.

Here we are today ... 10 years later. And I'm still saying yes!!

Who does this!?!?

I opened the fridge door a few days ago and found this ... left by my one and only. Seriously? Could he not have put it in the trashcan?

I have also discovered that he does this with juice and milk.

I <3 Thunderstorms

It is storming right now and it sounds wonderful. This moment would be perfect if I had a tin roof to hear the rain.

The past few weeks have been a whirlwind ... our weekends have stayed pretty busy with dinner parties, outings with friends, and looking at lots of houses. Have you bought a house before? This has been very overwhelming ... more overwhelming than planning our wedding. This decision is something we will be living with for the next 30 (well, at least 15) years! And there are so many scenarios to play out ... is there a big enough backyard, is the house big enough for future miniature Andrews and Kristins, could we have two dogs in this house, is there enough storage, is there enough counter space for all of my holiday baking needs, will the house hold all the Raynor's and Rudy's for holidays .... see what I mean? I'm exhausted just thinking about it all.

Just a little catch up ... time to enjoy the storm until we go to bed.

calming thoughts,
kristin

Happy Birthday, Leah!! And a “Not Me Monday!”

Today is my sister’s birthday! HOLLA!!! We had a great time this Sunday celebrating with her! She and my parents came over for family birthday festivities. We made Caesar Salmon, baked potatoes, and a side salad for dinner. Mom made the cake and I supplied the ice cream for dessert. We had a wonderful time together just staying in and enjoying each other’s company.

The birthday girl with her delicious cake.

Notice anything super cool about the candles? That's right, the flames are different colors! Jealous? Should be.

Leah – I hope you had a fabulous time Sunday and enjoy your birthday dinner tonight! You are an awesome sister and I am so lucky to have you in my life.

Okay … on another note. There are a few blogs that I ‘stalk’ daily. Well, there is one in particular that I am starting to ‘stalk’ a bit more and she does this thing called "Not Me Mondays" where you pretty much fess up to anything you did during the week that might not be so great (but you still get to claim that you didn’t do it to save face – sort of) It's nothing terrible or illegal (well, mine aren't!) Anyways, I thought I would participate – so here it goes. Yes, it's a day late ... it will be okay.

1. I did not find out that Ann Taylor Loft was have a CRAZY sale and not tell any family or friends until after I went to check it out myself. (I did not save about $225 on 2 sweaters, a cardigan, a dress, and a pair of shoes!)
2. I did not use my dog’s sickness to my advantage yesterday to work from home.
3. I did not go to Harris Teeter instead of Food Lion for my grocery shopping on Sunday just to get a Starbucks coffee while I shopped.

See! Nothing terrible ...

So, what did you not do?
