I signed up for another one!

Another 5k that is! I am sticking to my guns! :-)

My next race is on May 30th and I plan on running this one! Well, the majority of it. You will see ... I plan on completing it in 30 minutes or less. I hope. The race is called Charlotte Run for Peace at Home.

I also found a great website to find more races to sign up for in the future. Who knows, maybe I'll turn into a running junkie.

Just thought I would report in so you all know I am keeping my word!

Oh, I need a running/walking buddy! Leah?? Anyone named Leah out there who wants to join me? Huh, Leah, huh??

wahoo!

So, Dad and I have completed our first 5K walk together ... wahoo! I created an insert at the bottom of the blog to keep track of the races/walks I participate in and my time.

The weather was beautiful! There were over 500 people that signed up for the race and $18,000 was raised to help rehabilitate patients who have suffered heart and lung disease. Doesn't that just make you feel good?

I am sad to say that I did not get any pictures at the walk but I did get some last minute before I headed home!

Happy Spring!

Feeling generous

I had to post another song of the week for 90's music...this one is for a Mr. Nichols. Make me fries!!!!

Heart and Sole

I swear I did not spell sole incorrectly. You will understand more as you read …

Next Saturday, Dad and I will be participating in the Heart and Sole 5K. No running … simply walking. This is going to be the first of many that I will sign up for this year and I will be running them like a champ before you know it. I couldn't ask for a better walking buddy to begin this adventure with!

I think I will use this blog as another way to keep me motivated with participating in different races. I am going to announce them and then post some pictures and my time (eeek!).

The Heart and Sole 5K is a great event to sign up for! All proceeds will benefit the WFUBMC Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program. Click here for more details.

Here’s to healthy hearts!

Our Last Full Day

That makes me very sad. I'm just not ready to head back to Chalotte yet. The sun is starting to peak through the clouds a little this morning and the ocean is four shades of blue. It is simply beautiful.

Andrew and Dad will attempt their last fate at surf fishing today. Well, for this trip anyway. Mom and I have a few more froo froo shops to hit up and then we are meeting up with Holly and Charlie for dinner tonight! I am so excited to see them all! It's been too long and her youngest is already over 8 months old!

Tomorrow we will be heading back to our little town of Matthews only to get back into the working routine. Why can't a twenty something year old retire? Or why can't I win the lottery? First I need to buy a ticket. One day though. A girl can dream, can't she?

Goodbye from Topsail.

rainy thursday morning

Good Morning from Topsail Beach! It's a rainy Thursday morning as I write this post. I am sipping on my morning cup of coffee while Dad and Andrew fix breakfast. Yes, I said fix. It's not making breakfast or cooking breakfast. In the south it's fixing breakfast. I guess I could go a bit further and say it's fixin' breakfast.

The week has been wonderful and relaxing - and very much needed. What have we been up to? A bunch of nothing ... and it's great. I highly recommend it. We have gone to a few beach shops, walked along the water, flipped through some trashy magazines, Andrew and Dad have fished, and Louie has been chasing the birds. I know, rough life, huh?

I think Mom and I may drive into Swansboro today for a little more shoppping and lunch at Yana's while the boys head to the pier for some more fishing. Maybe they will catch something besides seaweed and bathing suit tops.

Louie gave us a good scare on Tuesday. Andrew and I were walking along the beach with Louie by our side. Well, she loves the water and has so much fun trying to bite the waves. But she has been a bit more interested in the birds that sit on the water and has decided to try to catch a few. Well, Miss Lou got a little too far and all we could see was her little head and a struggle in her eyes as she tried to doggie paddle back to shore. Luckily a wave pushed her back towards us and we all took in a deep breath full of relief. Then she went back for it again. She is a very determined dog.

If I could only post some pictures for you ...

Until next time,
K
